Flashback New Orleans. You can't make this stuff up! Keep praying for Jaheim

Last summer I went to New Orleans as a volunteer youth leader to help rebuild a church in the 7th ward that had been wiped out from Hurricane Katrina. My group enjoyed taking breaks from the labor and wandering around the neighborhood, meeting people and listening to their stories.

Shondra wasn't at home in August, 2005 when the levees broke, but several of her young children were. Water levels rose quickly and the youngsters climbed on mattresses. Miraculously, when rescuers entered the house three days later those water-logged mattresses with 4 children on them were still floating. One of the children said she saw an angel in the room.

We played with Shondra's children during the course of the week last July and developed a relationship that extended beyond our time in New Orleans. Some of the youth sent the family Christmas gifts and helped out with clothes and food.

Five days ago, Shondra called me and told me that her 5 year-old son, Jaheim, was not doing very well, again. He has been in and out of the hospital due to colon cancer. He had a turn around for the better in the spring, but recently the doctors told her that there is not much they can do. We prayed together on the phone.

Here's what happened next...Its a bit out of the ordinary... but who can get God to fit into our neat little boxes?....

I'll share what happened by way of a letter I wrote Shondra:

June 18, 2009
Dear Miss Shondra
I’m writing because I wanted to explain that phone call the other day when I asked you to put Jaheim on the line and he listened to that loud horn playing. It must have seemed really odd, so I want to tell you about what happened before I called you. I believe God set up this whole thing for the purpose of healing Jaheim of cancer.

The story starts less than a week ago. A friend of mine called me and said, “turn on the TV show, “Its Supernatural” with Sid Roth. There is a guy who plays the Shofar and people get healed . A shofar is a horn made from a large animal like a big sheep and in ancient times people from Israel used it to call their people to battle. It is the instrument that one day will announce the coming of the King (Jesus) and wake the dead.

A few years ago, this man had been pointed out in a huge group of people and given a prophetic word. He was told, “when the horn blows, cancer goes!” Someone who heard about this man came to see him and asked him if he would blow the horn at his chest. When he did large lumps of cancer disappeared. Ever since then many healings have occurred from the blast of this shofar. So I turned the tv on right when he was about to blast this horn. I listened to it, turned it off and actually didn’t think about it much after that.

On Monday, you called me and told me that Jaheim wasn’t doing well. You also told me that there was something not right where you were living. That there were weird, cold breezes in parts of the house. We prayed that the blood of Jesus would protect you and told Satan and his demons to leave your home by the authority of Jesus. Then you told me to take your number and put it in my cell phone. I think God was talking through you to me. Unfortunately, I didn’t listen at first. I wrote your number down and put it somewhere, but not in my cell phone. I didn’t think I would need it right away.

The next day some people from my prayer group were going to hear someone speak at a bible study and invited me to go along. I thought I was too busy because I’m getting ready to go to Haiti next week with youth from my church to do some physical labor and run a vacation bible school for kids there. I decided to go and we met in someone’s garage about 20 minutes from my house. They had a guest speaker.

It was the same guy who was on the TV show that blows that horn for healing!

I thought of you and Jaheim and asked him if he would do it for someone not present. He told me to call you on the phone and he would play it into the phone.

On no! I didn’t put your number into my cell phone right away! So I called my house and asked my daughter, Keri, to look for this scrap of paper with your number on it. (do you remember Keri, from last summer? She and one of your daughters had fun playing together.) Anyway, I prayed to God she would find it because I have notes all over the house of things to do while I get ready for this trip to Haiti. I tell her where I think it is and pray to God that she will find this needle in a haystack. She says she can’t find it. I tell her to look on the back of every scrap paper and I hear her say: “I found it!”

Then I couldn’t get a hold of you. Someone answered, but I lost the connection. I called about 10 times and kept getting your voicemail. I asked the Shofar man to play it on me as an act for Jaheim.

Afterwards, I made this declaration:
Jaheim will live and will not die. He will become a man of God and serve God. He will share with others the wonderful things that God has done!

Someone spoke up and said the Lord says VICTORY. This is a victory call.
I was so glad to hear that even though I hadn’t gotten through to you.
Then right before I was about to leave you called me! You put Jaheim on the line.
The Shofar man was ministering to someone else by that time. I didn’t feel that I should interrupt so when he was playing the shofar for someone else Jaheim was on the line I told him to listen.

He is such a sweet little boy. Is he doing better?

This is what the sound of that horn blowing means:
When sounded under the anointing of God, the shofar has been known to release the power of God to heal physical bodies, and deliver people from bondage. As the “voice of God”, it is a sound that Satan cannot corrupt, or tolerate. The enemy will flee at the sound of the shofar.
Joel 2:1 instructs us to “blow a shofar in Zion, for the day of the Lord is at hand!”

Miss Shondra – I believe this was God intervening in your life to heal Jaheim and take evil presences out of your house. Believe with me this was a victory call! Look at all the events that God lined up. This is all way more than coincidence. God did this! Lets praise him for Jaheim’s healing. He is doing this! We pray he will be healed in Jesus’ name!
I bless you and your family and your life. God wants to keep doing wonderful things in your family’s life.

Love,
Nancy

Two days later, I got a call from Shondra and she said Jaheim was doing really well. He made the doctor laugh when he told the story that a man played a horn on the phone and it went bom..bom.bom.bom.. and then he said with his child-like wisdom... The man honked the horn and it took the devil out of me!

Everyone who reads this: Please keep praying for Jaheim
